Root Canal Therapy
In cases of serious decay or infection in a tooth, the infected pulp and nerves will have to be removed through a root canal treatment. The canal is then cleaned and disinfected to prevent future infection, after which a rubber-like material known as gutta-percha is used to fill the canal. The process is completed when the tooth is restored with a crown or filling.
A root canal treatment helps to relieve you of the pain and discomfort caused by the infected tooth. Some signs that you may require this procedure include sensitivity to heat or cold, swelling and pain when pressure is put on the infected area.
